Learning Objectives: Pharmacists

  •           Summarize the ASHP policy making process.
  •           Describe how the ASHP assists with your professional future
  •           State how the Rhode Island Society of Health System Pharmacists (RISHP) delegates should vote on the major issues at the 2014 ASHP House of Delegates sessions.
  •           Identify the major difference between pharmacist provider status and advanced pharmacist practice roles.
  •           Identify the qualifying requirement for pharmacists to claim reimbursement in the proposed legislation, H.R. 4190.
  •           Describe the role of RISHP in furthering provider status in Rhode Island.
  •           Review the legislative process leading to the approval of the Drug Quality and Security Act (H.R. 3204).
  •           Discuss the major provisions of the Drug Quality and Security Act (H.R. 3204).
  •           Identify at least two (2) provisions of the FDA proposed regulations on sterile compounding that ASHP has provided comments for modification or clarification.

  •           Summarize the ASHP policy making process.
  •           Identify at least one (1) example of ASHP technician advocacy.
  •           State how the Rhode Island Society of Health System Pharmacists (RISHP) delegates should vote on the major issues at the 2014 ASHP House of Delegates sessions.
  •           Describe the major difference between pharmacist provider status and advanced pharmacist practice roles.
  •           Discuss the role of RISHP in furthering provider status in Rhode Island.
  •           Identify at least one (1) lesson learned from the New England Compounding Center (NECC) tragedy of 2012.
  •           Identify at least two (2) elements of the Drug Quality and Safety Act (H.R. 3204) that will help to insure high quality sterile compounded products.
