  3. Review the implementation of lifestyle modification services on progression of type 2 diabetes at the Providence VA Medical Center.

  4. Discuss the management of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia at a medium-sized community hospital.

  5. Explain the discrepancies between current and optimal management.

  6. Identify high risk patients on chronic opioid therapy and review the CDC Opioid Prescribing Guidelines.

  7. Discuss the opioid stewardship program at Coastal Medical and adherence of patients to the new policies.

  8. Describe opportunities for pharmacists to address inappropriate PPI prescribing and monitoring.

  9. Define alcohol withdrawal syndrome symptoms and describe current first-line evidence based treatment options for inpatients presenting with acute alcohol withdrawal syndrome.

  10. Explain the role of dexmedetomidine in the management of acute alcohol withdrawal syndrome.

  11. Discuss the prevalence of long term care facilities' (LTCF) patients who have a urinalysis ordered in the emergency department (ED).

  12. Explain the consequences of urinalyses performed without true indication.

  13. Describe the key parts of initiating a new clinic.

 The University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This is a knowledge-based educational activity. Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians will receive 1.5 contact hours (0.15 ceus) for the educational activity.
